Born in Dallas, TX on November 1, Belita
Moreno got her first taste of acting as a child when her mother encouraged her
to try out for a church play. A graduate of Southern Methodist University,
where she had a full tuition scholarship, Ms. Moreno worked at the Bob Hope
Theater and the Margo Jones Experimental Theater during her college years.
She taught at a private school for one year after graduation, then decided to
pursue an acting career in earnest.
Ms. Moreno spent 2 ½ years at the Pacific
Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Monica, CA, where in addition to
acting and directing, she also initiated its creative dramatics department,
which she also taught.
Upon her move to Los Angeles, she landed
roles in stage productions including "To See the Elephant" at the Mark
Taper Two, and understudied Sandy Duncan in "Vanities," later assuming
the role at the Westwood Playhouse. She appeared last year in Beth Henley’s
newest play "Abundance," which had its premiere at the South Coast
Repertory (CA). Ms. Moreno has also appeared on Broadway in "The Wake of
Jamey Foster" and at the Manhattan Theater Club in "The Lucky
Spot" and "The Miss Firecracker Contest."
Television credits include appearances on
"Family Ties," "Lou Grant," "Mary Hartman, Mary
Hartman," "Valerie’s Family," "Full House" and the
television film "Do You Remember Love?" She has also appeared in
the feature films "Three Women," "A Wedding," "A
Perfect Couple," "Mommie Dearest," "Nobody’s Fool"
and "Men Don’t Leave."
Ms. Moreno resides in Los Angeles with her
husband, agent Joel Rudnick, and their two children. She enjoys cooking,
quilting and working out, and also coaches other actors in cold-reading
